HYDERABAD: January 12, 2018. (Abbas Kassar) Society for Protection of Rights of Child (SPARC) has condemned the barbaric incident at Qasur in which an 8-year-old innocent girl Zainab was kidnapped and raped when she was on her way to take lesson at seminary. SPARC has also expressed indignation against Qasur police and Punjab government on their failure to arrest the culprit despite passage of around a week’s time. SPARC leaders Kashif Bajir, Zahid Thebo and others also expressed grief on killing of 2 citizens by Qasur police when they were protesting to voice their anger and outrage against rape and murder of little Zainab who went missing on Saturday was found raped, dead and buried in garbage. SPARC leaders opposed formation of Joint Investigation Team (JIT) for investigation of the incident adding that it may cause delay in justice. SPARC said removal of DPO Qasur was not enough. They demanded removal of Punjab government. They demanded public flogging and hanging of monster culprits. It was 8th incident against children in Qasur in last 5 years but police instead of arresting killers was picking innocent people as was its routine as they expressed apprehension that in presence of present Punjab government there was no hope of justice with little Zainab. SPARC also expressed concern on closing down of Child Protection Units in KPK terming the step to make children more vulnerable to violence and unsafe. They demanded reopening of CPU in KPK along with opening such units in all districts of Sindh and Punjab to provide protection to children.
