Lahore: August 26, 2016. (PCP) According to information’s received by Pakistan Christian Post, Mr. Sardar Mushtaq Gill advocate have fled from Pakistan with his family after continuous life threats from extremist Muslim militant groups from months. Mr. Mushtaq Gill Advocate, who was awarded with title of “Human Right Defender” by a recognized International Human Right body on his free legal aid services from LEAD organization to victims of blasphemy law. When Pakistan Christian Post contacted Mr. Gill Advocate in one South Asian Country where he have filed for Refugee Status with UNHCR, he said “Death threats and attacks by the extremists had made it extremely difficult for me to carry out human rights work,” he stated while adding that continually being into hiding had made life terrible for me and my family as we deemed our survival impossible in Pakistan” When PCP contacted Punjab government and asked a question that when there were reports that Sardar Mushtaq Gill Advocate was attacked and under threats then why he was not provided security? On which reliable government official said “We not have enough security personal in Punjab Police that we may provide security to any Christian because we have responsibility to provide security to government officials” Mr. Gill was under threats since 2013 and was not able to reside at permanent place. He asked number of times to Pakistani authority for his and his family protection which was being ignored. He also requested international groups who concern for safety and protections for HRDs including Frontline Defenders, an international organization working for safety and protections of HRDs, after getting death threats and going into hiding. Pakistan is one of those countries which are dangerous for HRDs and recently in May Khurram Zaki, a prominent human rights campaigner and editor, was shot dead by four unknown assailants while he was having dinner at a restaurant in North Karachi. Zaki was one of a group of civil society campaigners who filed a case in January against Maulana Abdul Aziz, the cleric of Lal Masjid belongs to Deoband sect, who was accused of inciting sectarian hatred and violence against Shi’a Muslims.
