Condolence Reference in the memory of Cardinal Jean Louis Turan


Lahore: August 13, 2018. (PCP) A Condolence Reference was organized in the memory of Cardinal Jean Louis Turan, the ex. President PCID, Vatican at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Lahore by the National Commission for Interreligious Dialogue & Ecumenism (Catholic BishopsÂ’ Conference Pakistan) His Grace Archbishop Sebastian Francis Shaw (Chairman NCIDE) presided over this ceremony to pay a homage to the great service and contribution of Cardinal Jean Louis Turan for the promotion of Peace and harmony among the religions.
A number of Muslim, Religious leaders attended this memorial reference. Most of them had a directed encounter with Cardinal Jean Turan during their visits in Rome. The Muslim leaders paid deep condolences on the death of His Eminence Cardinal Jean-Louis Turan. They appreciated his efforts for a peace dialogue between the followers of different religions. His services are commendable. Among these religious leaders namely Moulana Abid Zubair and Mr. Ahmad Raza cited his personality and great work.
In the beginning of the Ceremony, the prayer was led by Fr. Henry Paul OFM Cap, Fr. Inyat Bernard presented a brief introduction of the ceremony.
The reading from the scripture was read by Fr. Nakash Azam; the diocesan board director of NCIDE from Lahore. Fr. Dr. Jamsed Albert O.P. Diocesan Director of Multan Diocese presented a short biography of Cardinal Jean Turan. Fr. Maqsood Nazir Diocesan Director of Quetta Prefect lead in the prayers of the faithful. He prayed for peace in the world. Fr. Francis Nadeem OFM Cap and Fr. James Chanan O.P. gave a tribute to the services of the Cardinal.
In his presidential address, Archbishop Sebastian Francis Shaw shared his beautiful memories with the Cardinal. He appreciated the enthusiasm of Cardinal Turan which kept him active throughout his illness and travelled across many courtiers to spread the message of interreligious harmony.
In the end Fr. Francis Nadeem OFM Cap (Executive Secretary) thanked all the distinguished guests, audience and the representatives of electronic and print media.
