Islamabad: April 4, 2008. Convener World Minorities Alliance J.Salik has felicitated the UNO and the Dutch government for having ensured the withdrawal of a movie described as blasphemous by the Muslims and has expressed that the act would help ease reduction in the tension among the major faiths of the world. In a statement issued here on Sunday he has expressed his deep satisfaction on the development saying it was the timely action of the Secretary General UNO which prevented further tension at the international front among two major faiths, after having ensured the withdrawal of the blasphemous movie from the internet. J.Salik has noted that the Dutch government at the very outset of the pathetic and bizarre act of a parliamentarian of the Netherlands and had asked him not to take to this course of blasphemy, while the Muslim community in Netherlands was also badly perturbed on this event. J.Salik said the act has set another precedent that the Dutch government fully respected the religious sentiments of the Muslim minority in their country that should be followed by the rest of the countries of the world. Condemning the earlier published blasphemous caricatures in different newspapers of Europe especially in Denmark he said that there is a particular group of disgruntled elements in the West which in fact sought to jeopardize the international peace in the name of the so called traditions of freedom of expression. He called upon the world leaders to get together to spell out limits of freedom of expression and that blasphemy should be declared as an international crime and one international court should be appointed to take cognizance of such affairs. He further expressed his hope that after this development no one would be allowed dare bring any faith of the world to disrespect and that the world leaders and the international community would collectively prevent the exercise in the larger interests of global peace.
