Discrimination of Christian Nursing in Pakistan

By : Shahnaz Kausar

I completed my midwifery course in September 1989 course at Woman’s Christian Hospital Multan and thereafter worked there for a year the working experience in a Christian atmosphere encouraged me to take further nursing course. As Christian belief and teaching with a pleasant experience at Christian Hospital Multan. I had the motivation to serve humanity and earn my living by adopting Nursing profession. About seven-year ago I passed my general nursing course from Sindh Nursing Examination Board Karachi, and started to work for the hospital to earn my nursing registration. Your editorial at the web site of Christian Post is a true picture of Christian nurses’ experience at the hospitals. If you complain to the authorities for any incident nothing happens and you are helpless because you are bond by contract and they will not registrar you at the Pakistan Nursing Council. I tried to rise my voice for the civil/ human rights and wrote few letter to government agency but all in vain. What I got few fabricated police cases and they even did not register me in the nursing council so I can work somewhere else, think what I had to run for my life. Shahnaz Kausar
