Where do you find great wisdom? By Religion Columnist: Karen Duffy

Scholarly men and women strive to achieve great knowledge by attending college and working towards a degree. Many students know exactly what field of study they want to excel in and they have high expectations of becoming a creative, productive human being. Choosing to achieve excellence is wise but barely making a passing grade is a reality many of us can relate to, although we may not want to admit it.
The world is full of people who achieve great things, but what aspires, what motivates them to make good things happen in their lives? Are you one of those people where everything is going your way right now or do you struggle to find anything good in your life? I believe if we seek God first, everything else in our lives will fall into place. How do I know this? The bible tells me so.
In Matthew 6:33 Jesus said, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you. So what does this mean exactly and how are we to understand what God wants us to do right now in our lives?
So many things compete for our attention every day and we choose what to focus our attention on and we decide what is important. Could it be that God is trying to teach us a very important lesson here that we should remember and practice throughout our busy lives? When we don’t actively seek God in the choices that we make, we fail to make God first before all other things. Trust and ask God for guidance and allow Him to make you wise in all aspects of your life. He can do this for you and me.
There is no enduring accomplishment that God cannot fulfill for you if you seek His will, and follow His lead. To accomplish great things we must believe ourselves to be distinct, capable of great things, to be faithful to the capabilities within ourselves and to be confident in our self worth. Recognize your God given talents and pray for God’s divine will to purify and refine your life today, tomorrow and every day.
Studying the word of God is positive and uplifting, and He calls each of us and wants so much for us to be obedient. The Holy Spirit is in us and pushes us forward and it is good to remind ourselves each day that God is with us and knows what we are going through.
“Lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do not rely on your own insight or understanding. In all your ways know, recognize and acknowledge Him and He will direct and make straight and plain your paths,” (Proverbs 3:5-6). We must not be wise in our own eyes. Listen, and be corrected by God’s word.
To receive God’s guidance, bring your decisions to God in prayer, use your bible as a guide, and follow God’s direction. Make God a vital part of everything you think and do and you will accomplish his purposes.
The person, who has great wisdom, trusts in the Lord. Seeking God’s wisdom is the most important decision you can make today.
