PESS strongly condemns police extra judicial killing of ex-commando

Mandi Bahauddin: (BY Sher Gondal) Pakistan Ex Servicemen Society-PESS strongly condemns the extra judicial killing of Naik Arshad Mehmood Retired ex Special Services Group by Chakwal Police PS Choa Saidan Sha in a fake encounter.

It must be noted that there was no charge/criminal proceedings against the deceased ex-serviceman. According to the local witnesses the ex-soldier was killed in his house by the local police and   to cover up their crime a story of encounter has been cooked up.

President PESS Lt Gen Amjad Shuaib Retd alongside entire PESS hierarchy stands behind the victim's family against this gruesome brutality in seeking justice for Naik Arshad Mehmood. Pakistan Ex Servicemen Society-PESS calls upon the Federal and Punjab Provincial Governments to immediately hold a judicial inquiry into the sordid incident of Police brutality in which an innocent ex- serviceman was killed in a fake encounter without any fault.

The culprits must be taken to task in accordance with the law without any favoritism. Punjab Police must not be allowed to protect the criminal elements within providing shelter to them fabricating fake evidence, PESS demanded

Meanwhile President Pakistan Ex-Servicemen Society (PESS) Gujranwala Region while strongly condemning Chakwal Police for extra judicial killing of Nk Arshad at village Dalailpur in precincts of Choa Saidan Shah Police Station has said that Punjab Police is renowned corrupt department which involve itself in most sordid & illegal activities in the Province.

There is no control over police stations by the high ups where these uniformed murderers get the money from opposite parties to kill harass and humiliate anyone in their jurisdiction and later on cover it up as police encounter and false stories. The latest example of this high handedness is cold blooded murder of an ex-serviceman in the presence of his family members and small kids in his own house.

According to local eye witnesses the police party comprising two ASIs and six constables broke into the house at 30 past midnight of 4/5 May instant and killed Nk Arshad, ex Special Services Group as they had allegedly received bribe from his opposing party which was involved with the victim family in certain criminal cases.

DPO Chakwal Mr. Muhammad is a tragically weak and incompetent police officer who miserably failed to handle the situation as he had allegedly personally ordered the police party to kill the ex-soldier. Chakwal Police had the notorious history of cold-blooded murder of a serving soldier named Abbass in the premises of court, a few years back despite the fact that he had surrendered for arrest.

The renowned analyst/journalist Ayaz Amir voiced against this high handedness and brutalities of Police but to no avail. Even in Naik Arshad case the police had crossed all the limits of decency by trespassing into the house without any legal justification or arrest warrant to arrest Ex SSG soldier just to humiliate and harass him in front of his family members and instigated him to retaliate just to justify his killing.

We the veterans from all over the country request the Chief Minister Punjab, Governor Punjab and IG Police to take strenuous action against the defaulters by registering FIR and holding an impartial judicial inquiry through Session Judge Chakwal. Otherwise the Pak Ex Servicemen Society will take the appropriate action against Police to revenge the killing of our ex-serviceman brother Nk Arshad. Now is the time for Punjab Government to dispense the speedy justice to aggrieved family otherwise it will be too late for every one sitting in the helm of affairs of Punjab Police.
