Duderhoma Ganderbal: A one-day Seminar on “Youth for revival of the prosperity of Kashmir” was organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Youth Development Forum (a major youth organization of Kashmir)in collaboration with Peace and Justice Forum today at Khaliqa Town Square Duderhoma Ganderbal ,seminar was attended by a large number of people representing youth and educated members of civil society including lawyers, journalists and doctors.
The seminar was focused on role of youth for devlopment and destruction of democratic set up in the valley as a result of violence perpetuated by Pakistan backed secessionist elements and the ways to redeem the situation. The speakers while deliberating on the current situation in the valley said that for the last two decades Kashmir has been engulfed in violence sponsored by secessionist leaders backed by Pakistan’s ISI. The violence has thrown entire life in Kashmir into turmoil with business activities including tourism, the backbone of states’ economy coming to a standstill.
The major development projects in Road, Power, Health, Tourism, Agriculture, Horticulture, Skill Development Sectors etc. are already under various stages of implementation. Many flagship schemes including the individual beneficiary centric schemes are being proactively implemented by the Government of India towards development of J&K .
The decision of article 370 abrogation also helps in resettling the uprooted Kashmiri Pandits back home, it will be a big win. Most of these Pandits want to go back to their homes, especially those still living in abject conditions in refugee camps in Jammu and elsewhere. Ending the discrimination against women deprived of property rights after marrying outside the Valley is also a welcome step said Suhail Sajid Wani a businessman of Baramulla .The economic impact of the abrogation of Article 370 on Jammu and Kashmir could not be realized for the last 70 years as the people of Jammu and Kashmir have suffered from Pakistan sponsored terrorism violence and separatism supported from across the border for the past many decades. On account of article 35A and certain other constitutional ambiguities, the people of J&K denied full rights enshrined in the Constitution of India and other benefits of various Central Laws that were being enjoyed by other citizens of the country said Abdul Waheed a social activist and Director Sky institute of Skills . Removal of Article 370 and Article 35A of the Constitution by a two-thirds majority by both the Houses of Parliament is not only historical but it has also paved the way for similar development of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, around 3,500 houses are built in Jammu and Kashmir and more than 24,000 houses have been completed in less than two years.”
“In Jammu and Kashmir, the work of establishing connectivity, irrigation, hospitals, tourism-related schemes and institutions of higher education like IIT, IIM, AIIMS is also going speedily.” said the Advocate Sajid Sofi during his speach in the seminar
