New Delhi: An emergency meeting of several NGOs and political groups was held in New Delhi (India) as well as in Jammu (J&K) to review the explosive situation and threat to world peace has emerged following Army coup in adjoining state of Myanmar (Burma) on February 1, 2021. The emergency meeting was presided over by Prof. Bhim Singh, Executive Chairman of World Peace Council (India). He is also President of Jammu & Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) besides Sr. Advocate Supreme Court of India. He holds Master’s Degree in Law from London University with distinction in International law.
Prof. Bhim Singh travelled around the world on two-wheels from 1967 to 1973. He during his world tour also travelled through South-East Asia end of 1972. He was in Burma, which is named why the military dictators as Myanmar during his world tour on peace mission. Prof. Bhim Singh visit entire country, Burma from Rangoon to the North of Burma. It was military rule at that time also. The poverty ridden Burmese were suffering under military dictatorship. Bhim Singh in his book, Around the World on Peace Mission on Motorcycle has mentioned the tragic tale which has/had witnessed in Burma at that time under military dictatorship.
Tragedy took place on February 1, 2021 when military detained the popular leadership of Myanmar including newly elected leader of Myanmar, Mrs. Aung San Suu Kyi with all elected members of her National League for Democracy (NLD) party. The Army has taken over and millions of Burmese citizens are either in jails or out of Burma. 54 millions of citizens have been caged by military dictators.
Thousands of citizens of Myanmar have been on the roads protesting against Army dictators in Burma including teachers, lawyers, students, bank officers and government workers in spite of curfews and bullets.
Prof. Bhim Singh and several other political leaders have condemned the security forces in Burma using water cannons, rubber bullets and live ammunition to try to disperse protesters.
The Panthers Party and other political leaders have urged the United Nations, Security Council to take urgent measures to save millions of bleeding human beings in Myanmar the way the UNO had played its role.
Prof. Bhim Singh expressed shock on the attitude of the BJP government under Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi that the Government of India has failed its role for peace and democracy in a neighbouring country as India has been playing right since 1950 during non-BJP governments. Prof. Bhim Singh urged the President of India for his immediate intervention to ensure return of democracy in Myanmar and play the India’s role for return of peace and democracy in Myanmar. Prof. Bhim Singh also appealed to the Members of Parliament of India to urge the President of India for his intervention so that India shall play its role as India has been doing during the non-BJP governments.
Prof.Bhim Singh questioned Prime Minister of India as to where has plan Non-Aligned Movement that India initiated, where is the foreign policy of India that India shall not side by the people of Burma or Palestine or even Africa? He appealed to all democratic, secular and nationalist political parties to support India's movement for world peace in the East and the West.
