Seminar on Child Labor: Lack of political Will main issue of Pakistan

HYDERABAD: December 31, 2015. (By Abbas Kassar) Speakers at seminar on child rights organized by SPARC has urged upon changing feudal, religious and political mindset towards children rights and their education. Speakers included Ms.Sadia Hussain executive director, Kashif Bajeer national manager and Zahid Thebo from child rights committee SPARC, Dr. Ashothama of HRCP, Rustam Ali Samejo Sindh Education Foundation, Mustafa Baloch of SPO,Jai Parkash Moorani president Hyderabad press club, Ms. Ambreen, Abid Channa, Anisha Waliullah of PTI, Samad Soomro of labour department, Punhoon Bheel and others. They told seminar that when elders are chained in bonded labour and kept in private jails by landlords how can their children get rights or go to schools. They expressed amazement that since last 20 years the government has failed to carry out national census to know exact figure of population which was must to formulate policies. They said in many evils including human trafficking, sexual exploitation of children, bad governance, corruption at state level, terrorism, narcotics, creating Jehadi organizations, religious intolerance and suicidal blasts Pakistan was at No. 1 in whole world. They said human rights situation is so worst in Pakistan that the government did not bother to submit annual reports to UNO as a result lost human rights seat in world body. They said that people pay Rs.25 per easy load of Rs.100 in mobile which means 80 million people pay Rs.25 per head to state as tax on mobile balance every month and even a child who purchases biscuit has to pay sales tax, yet we are rated among poor nations of world and rulers who claimed to break the begging bowl in 6 months have indebted nation in foreign loans. They said deadly disease polio has been eradicated from whole world but we have not got rid of it despite receiving billions from UNICEF. They said out of 168 millions child labour in whole world Pakistan stands at No.1.All the agreements and conventions of UNO we have rectified but have never implemented any one of these. The speakers said that rulers have no will, no intension to lift the nation upward. How can we make progress when prime minister who is leader of house has attended National Assembly only 4 times in a year. This shows how much sincere he is with his nation. They said we are rich of resources including mineral wealth, oil, gas, agriculture, fruits yet we are poor. They said rulers were making their palaces selling poverty of Pakistan. They also lambasted at Pakistan Peoples Party alleging that party was trying to put country at risk for sake of one person Dr. Asim Hussain who has made many confessions including corruption of Rs.13 billions. Past rulers were living princely life abroad in palaces made out of loot of plunder of national exchequer while the present ones were preparing for same.
