Imaginary conversation with Christian leader of Pakistan Movement SP Singha. By Dr. Emanuel Adil Ghouri
Psychologists believe that consciousness also remains awake in the subconscious. The emotions a person feels about happiness, sadness, pain, success, and failure are hidden in the recesses of his brain, which often express themselves in the form of dreams. After the Jaranwala tragedy, I was under a lot of stress, just like a mentally ill person. I was constantly worried that we were safe. Someone would make my life miserable by falsely accusing me of blasphemy. Someone would set my village on fire. Will the police protect us from the chaotic crowd? One day, thinking about such assumptions, I fell into a deep sleep. I was sleeping, but an unknown fear was awakening within me, which took me into the embrace of a dream. I dream that I am at the mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah in Karachi. I enter through the main gate and reach his beautiful grave. When I reach there, I see an elderly man who looks very dignified and thoughtful, hugging the grave of Quaid-e-Azam and weeping bitterly.
The redness of his eyes is telling him that there is a deep sorrow inside him, a regret that makes him cry, that doesn't let him sleep.
He was not only crying but also banging his head against the strong walls of the tomb, which caused his head to be injured and bleeding from the wounds. I couldn't understand if this was devotion or an expression of some suspicion. The journalist inside me began to awaken, realizing that there was a unique story that I needed to know. I gathered my courage and sat down near the man. I had a bottle of cold water with me, which I offered him and he accepted. I felt some hope that the conversation would continue. As soon as they took a sip of water, I started wiping the blood flowing from their wounds with my handkerchief. They didn't stop me from doing so. Seeing the softness in his attitude, I asked my first question, "Can I know your problem?" He took a deep breath and said in a cold tone, "What will you do if you know?" I introduced myself and said that I came from Sialkot and am a journalist. I will bring what is in your heart to the pages of newspaper. I will take your voice to the government chambers. He looked at me carefully and expressed happiness and said that I also belong to Pasrur Tehsil of Sialkot, where I was born. I also expressed happiness on knowing this and the conversation started moving forward It's as if I've been suffering for 78 years. Will all the dust come out in one sitting? I've built up my courage. My dear, something will decrease. The burden on my heart will become lighter. His words were very meaningful. It seemed that he was a politician, intellectual or philosopher. Continuing the conversation, I asked, "Do you seem to me to be a great devotee of Quaid-e-Azam or a close associate of his?" He said in a weak and hoarse voice that he had a very close relationship with him. Although I was a Christian, I considered him my leader because he had not only religion but also humanity within him. He did not believe in the dominance of the majority over the minority.
I thought this was the person who would give Christians in Pakistan a secure future. I then went from village to village to support him and prepared Christians to support the Muslim League. There was a time when Sikh leader Tara Singh was saying that whoever asks for Pakistan will get a graveyard. On the other hand, I was saying that we will get a bullet in the chest and create Pakistan. Then, by the grace of God, with my vote and the support of Christians, Pakistan was created and I was made the first Speaker of the Punjab Assembly. But, sighing coldly, the Muslim religious extremists removed a Christian Speaker through a vote of no confidence in the first session of the assembly of a free country. As soon as I heard this, I suddenly said, "You are SP Singha." His tongue could not support his answer. His voice became weak, so he shook his head in response. He took a sip of water, gathered courage, and continued the conversation as if he were the representative of the Christian nation in the Pakistan Movement. The Christian nation had left the decision of its future to me. The vote with which Pakistan was created was not mine, it was the trust of my nation. I was happy that I was giving my nation a secure future. I am creating citizens of a country where they will be free and equal citizens, where the distribution of rights will not be based on color, race, religion, or belief. Today I realize that my decision was wrong. The Pakistan I imagined is very different from what it is today. When I see Christian settlements burning here, when I see many Christians imprisoned on false blasphemy charges, when I see crying, young girls being converted and married, when acid is thrown on Christian girls, when innocent Christians are burned alive, when I see churches burning, my soul trembles I consider myself responsible for all this trouble. I regret my decision. Many people know that the homeland I spent my entire life trying to achieve could not support my family for long and they had to migrate to India after just one year. The province of Punjab, where the most oppression is happening, became a part of Pakistan thanks to the votes of me and my colleagues. Babaji was now pouring out his inner sorrow non-stop, so I also asked one more question: Wasn't it appropriate that you too had demanded a Christian state consisting of a few districts, so that we wouldn't have to face the situation we are facing today? In response to my question, he smiled and said, "It was possible, but I supported Quaid-e-Azam unconditionally. I had Christian loyalty. “I know that the politics you have seen is one of opportunism, in which allies blackmail the Prime Minister. The coalition party that has five seats takes five ministries. Not only that, the party with a few seats also takes the Chief Minister ship. We could have done the same, but for us, politics was service and worship, and as Christians, we did not make any decisions based on greed. Time had run out. As we walked, I asked them one last question: Some Christians want to create a new country called Freeland, some demand a separate province, and some hope that Christian countries will settle us in their countries. Is that possible? He smiled and said, "Those who think like this live in a fool's paradise. Sacrifices have to be made to build a country. Sons and daughters are martyred. Daughters’ dear to their lives are raped. They have to endure the company of prisoners. Freedom is not given on a plate. Do you have a leader who would dare to sacrifice his life for the nation, who would sell his house and invest it in the freedom movement? Leaders who grew up on foreign aid can only dream. Those who have settled their children in Europe and America want to give you freedom by sacrificing your children. This is their business ploy. They don't want you to be happy and free. The day your problems end, their foreign aid will end. That's why they insist on increasing your problems instead of solving them. At that moment, the phone rang and my eyes opened. I am also grateful to the caller for allowing my dream to come true.
