ISLAMABAD: April 6, 2009. (PCP) The 17 years old girl flogged by Taliban in Swat valley on accusations of affair with other man was not presented before Supreme Court of Pakistan during hearing set today by Chief Justice of Pakistan SC on Suo-Muto notice after dreadful video broadcasted by TV channels. The Chief Secretary of NWFP and IG were present but victim girl was not produced in SC Bench of 8 judges set by CJ under his chair. The statement of flogged girl was submitted “I was not flogged by Taliban” which surprised honorable CJ Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudry. It was already feared that NWFP government shall adopt every measure to mislead SC to save truce with Taliban of Swat to implement Kazi Courts and Sharia law in North Western Areas of Pakistan. Indian press reported that “Chand Bibi, the 17-year-old girl who was shown being held down by three men while a fourth flogged her, reportedly told the judge of a Qazi or Islamic court and Divisional Commissioner Syed Mohammad Javed yesterday that such an incident had never happened” According to agencies “North West Frontier Province Information Minister Mian Iftikhar Hussain told The News daily that Chand Bibi had made a statement to the two officials who visited her village of Kala Killay in Kabal sub-division yesterday” Times of India wrote “Quoting the divisional commissioner, Hussain said the girl made it clear she was married to a man named Adalat Khan. She refuted reports that both of them were flogged by the Taliban as punishment for having "illicit relations" and then forcibly married. Hussain also said Chand Bibi had expressed her inability to appear in the Supreme Court as she and her family felt it was not appropriate for a purdah-observing Pashtun girl to do so in the presence of TV cameras and onlookers” Human Right organizations and people of Pakistan are outraged after Video of girl being flogged in public and pressing upon President Asif Ali Zardari not to approve Shariat Regulation Bill forwarded by NWFP government.
