AWAZ hosts a lunch reception in honor of James Sheera

Brampton: May 24, 2009. (PCP) International Christian AWAZ, Canada hosted a lunch reception to honor Mr. James Sheera visiting Brampton from England, UK on May 17, 2009, while Edgar Money and George Lewis were also among visiting guests of honor. Mr. Shahdab Khokhar introducing guests to local community leaders said that James Sheera originally from Gujranwala, Pakistan, is a recipient of,’ Member of the order of the British Empire’, equivalent to ‘Order of Canada’, in Canada, Nishan-i-Khidmat, a civilian honor bestowed by the government of Pakistan. Edgar Money, originally from Rawalpindi, Pakistan, is a local businessman in London as well as a councilor at ‘Heathrow International Airport’, London, UK. Edgar Money has earned a reputation as a man who is always ready to help. George Lewis, originally from Faisalabad, Pakistan, settled in Bristol, a well known local government official who has dedicated decades to raise his voice for the persecuted Church around the world. Dignitaries present to honor the guests were, Tassaduq Hussain, Consul General of Pakistan, Toronto, Jim Karygiannis, Member of Parliament, Scarborough-Agincourt, Akhtar Din, Chair, ‘Asian Christian Alliance Church’, Mississauga, Ontario, Rev. Wilson Nazim, Pastor In charge, ‘First Asian Canadian Bible Church’, Brampton, Ontario, Rev. Carol Patrick, Pastor In charge, ‘Asian Christian Alliance Church’, Mississauga, Ontario, Rev. Salim Arthur, Pastor In charge, ‘South Asian Bible Church’, Mississauga, Ontario, Rev. K. Khokhar, Assistant Pastor, ‘South Asian Bible Church’, Mississuaga, Ontario, Rev. Samuel Ghori, Pastor In charge, ‘All Nations Bible Church’, Ontario, Rev. Manir Din, South Asian Fellowship, Bramalea Baptist Church, Brampton, Ontario, Greg Cohen, Fundraising Chair, F.C. Editor, ‘Dharkan’, Dolly Khokhar, Editor, ‘International Christian AWAZ’, quarterly community newsletter, Grace Khairullah, Anita Barnabas, Christopher Khokhar, Samson Marcus, AWAZ executive members and other prominent members namely, Mr. & Mrs. Qamar Khan, Rapheal Micheal, Dr. Anslem Lewis, Eric Irshad, David Francis, Mr. & Mrs. Qamar Andreas, Donald Barnabas, Arshad Jonathan, Mr. & Mrs. Shauqat Bakash, Mr. & Mrs. Donald Joshua, Mr. and Mrs. Sajid Bhatti, Mr. & Mrs. Alan Lewis, Issac Lal, Mr. & Mrs. Shakeel Suleman, and a few other prominent personalities living in the greater Toronto area, graced the occasion with their presence. Certificates of recognition for James Sheera, Edgar Money and George Lewis, sent by Brampton Centre, Member of Parliament, Dr. Ruby Dhalla, Member of Parliament, Brampton West, Andrew Kania were presented to the guests by the Consul General of Pakistan, Tassaduq Hussain. Jim Karygiannis, presented the certificates of recognition to the guests from United Kingdom. Karygiannis welcomed the guests to Canada and expressed his concern for the safety and wellbeing of the minorities in Pakistan. Shadab Khokhar, in the presidential address, thanked the distinguished guests from overseas, local leaders and dignitaries and hailed the outstanding services of International Christian leaders, serving the Pakistani Christian community. The edgy situation of Pakistan and the war against terror was slightly touched by the Consul General in his speech but mainly he tried to restore the confidence of overseas Pakistani’s in the government of Pakistan, assuring the audience that the government of Pakistan is fully aware and in control. Hussain welcomed the guests from UK and spoke highly of the Pakistani Christian community in Toronto. The guests and dignitaries mingled with each other and enjoyed a delicious Pakistani meal. The visitors from USA, Manzoor Alam, Earnst Gulab, Alfreda Gill and Asif Mall were unable to join in for lunch because of an unexpected engagement.
