Gojra massacre case voiced in front of UK Prime Minister home by Pakistani Christians.

LONDON: August 21, 2009. (Pukaar New) A large gathering of Pakistani Christian Diaspora in Britain on August 19, rallied in front of 10 Downing Street, residence of UK Prime Minister Mr. Gordon Brown demanding intervention to repeal blasphemy law in Pakistan and justice for victims of Gojra attacks where Muslim extremists burnt alive Christian women and children. The highlight of this protest was presence of first Pakistani origin Bishop in UK, Rt. Rev. Dr. Michael Nazir Ali, Bishop of Rochester, who stressed for religious harmony in Pakistan. It is biggest demonstration by Pakistani Christians in Europe and America which attracted hundreds all over Britain to condemn killing of peaceful Christians in Gojra on August 1, 2009. According to Pukaar new, Rt Rev Tony Robinson, the Bishop of Pontefract, said outside 10 Downing Street: ‘We need to stand together with the Muslims in this country against the violence in Pakistan. I’m sure Gordon Brown will be supportive. He is a Christian person who lives by Christian values.’ he Rt Rev Dr Michael Nazir-Ali, the Bishop of Rochester, who was also supporting the protest, said that Pakistan’s founder had a dream that people of all beliefs and backgrounds would live in peace and harmony: But what is actually happening in Pakistan is very different form the Mohammad Ali Jinnah’s vision.’ The Bishop, who has a Christian and Muslim background, has pledged to fight for the rights of minorities around the world. Reverend George Hargreaves, leader of the Christian Party, said: ‘We want the Prime Minister to intervene in the heinous crimes perpetrated against Christians by fundamentalists. We believe in freedom of religion but we don’t want them to pay for their faith with their lives. Those who did this should be brought to book.’ his weekend memorial services will be held throughout the world to remember the victims of the violence. A delegation of Christian leaders also presented a petition to UK Prime Minister.
