Philadelphia: August 27, 2009. (PCP) Dr. Nazir S Bhatti, Chief of Pakistan Christian Congress PCC paid homage to sacrifices of Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti for Balochi rights in Pakistan here today in message on 3rd death anniversary of martyr Akbar Bugti who was assassinated by Pakistan Army on August 26, 2006.
Nazir Bhatti said “Martyr Akbar Bugti will ever be remembered as leader of all oppressed nations in Pakistan and symbol of struggle for due rights”
He said that Akbar Bugti was not only leader of Baluch nation in Baluchistan but he was voice of down trodden communities in Pakistan.
Recalling support of Nawab Akbar Bugti for Pakistani Christians, Nazir S Bhatti said Christian enjoyed equal rights during his governorship in Baluchistan and he awarded important ministries to Christians, Hindus and Sikhs when he was Chief Minister of province.
Nawab Abkar Bugti was a leader who nominated a Hindu leader as Speaker of Baluchistan Assembly from JWP led by him.
Nazir S Bhatti said that non of Christian is being charged under blasphemy in Baluchistan province of Pakistan which affirms religious freedom and harmony among religious communities after legislation and implementation of Huddod Ordinance in Pakistan.
“The assassination of Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti was dark episode to end voice for rights and due share in resources of state” said Nazir Bhatti
He added that sacrifice of Akbar Bugti is lesson for Christians in Pakistan to not bargain on principals in a movement for due rights.
