Karachi: September 13, 2009. (PCP) Dr. Nazir S Bhatti, President of Pakistan Christian Congress PCC, expressed grave concern on not providing land for homes to 200 Christian displaced families who are living on sidewalks of Islamabad after their homes were bulldozed in Chak Shehzad by capital authorities.
The Islamabad Authorities destroyed homes and belongings of Christians about 70 days ago in Chak Shehzad, Islamabad to acquire land for rich people and displaced them to face heat, cold and rains under open sky.
The children, women and elders of displaced families are living in make shift camps very close to office of Federal Minister for Minorities Shahbaz Bhatti while he has never stopped his caravan to meet displaced Christians nor any other official have listened to agony of people who are not IDP,s after atrocities of Taliban but victim of government which claimed and slogan ’Home, Dress and Bread” for every Pakistani.
Nazir Bhatti paid homage to J Salik who is fighting for rights of Christian IDP,s of Islamabad from last two months and raising voice for them by rallies and protests.
“The IDP,s of Swat, Dir and Boner have returned to their homes after short stay in refugee camps but Christian IDP,s of Islamabad are stranded in capital city under nose of government which have created doubts among Christians in Pakistan who are facing violence by Muslim militants and establishment” Said Nazir Bhatti
Dr. Bhatti added “Muslim IDP,s of Swat Valley, Malakand, Dir and boner were provided with every facility in refugee camps when Christian IDP,s are forced to beg for living on streets which clarifies rights of Christians in Pakistan”
“Muslim militants are destroying homes and killing Christians on alleged accusations of blasphemy in Punjab when establishment have bulldozed homes of poor Christians in Islamabad” said PCC Chief
Nazir S Bhatti urged Mr. Yousuf Raza Gillani, Prime Minister of Pakistan to provide residential plots to Christian IDP,s of Islamabad.
