Islamabad: December 24, 2009. (PCP) After thousands of SMS on mobiles phones of Christians in Pakistan spread wave of fear and anger among 20 million Pakistani Christians on Christmas this year. The SMS by Islamic extremists to attack Christian worship places during Christmas prayers was first of its kind of cyber terrorism in Pakistan. Moreover, the government agencies harassed Christians in name of investigations of these threatening SMS instead of reaching to sender of messages. The PCP sources in Pakistan revealed that SMS threats were true and DG FIA Zafarullah Khan took the notice of SMS sent to Christians for a possible terrorist activity on Christmas, 4 FIR got registered, 2 from NWFP and 1 from Sindh and 1 in Punjab. FIA took action and arrested some suspected culprits, upon investigation from them it was found that in Punjab it was merely a joke trying to threaten the Christians. As for the rest of the 3 the people responsible have been arrested. Punjab province where Christians are second largest population after Muslims and numbering millions have been target of extremist Muslims and many Christian homes in villages have been destroyed on pretext to blasphemy law but SMS threats were treated as joke in this province.
