New Delhi: January 6, 2010. (PCP) Mr. Navaid Hamid, General Secretary, MOEMIN is again nominated in the reconstituted National Integration Council by the Prime Minister of India. Mr. Navaid Hamid who is General Secretary of Movement for Empowerment of Muslim Indians MOEMIN, in his acceptance letter to Mr. P. Chidmabaran, Home Minister of India said “I am privileged to have your communication regarding my re-nomination to the prestigious National Integration Council reconstituted by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India” The reconstitution of the NIC clearly sends a strong message to the civil society that the UPA government gives paramount importance in the continuity of the national institutions which were established for involving the civil society in nation building and integration between different segments of society. The civil society and the minorities across the nation have not only great hopes in this prestigious body which was the brain child of the architect of modern India, Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru but also sees it as the national platform for consulting civil society to foster harmony-communal, social and cultural; to bridge the gap of economic disparity; strengthening pluralistic character of the nation and the national integration. “I am confident that the reconstituted NIC would actively deliberate on the contentious issues which threatens the harmony and integrity; would be involved in the consultation for the formulation of the laws and guidelines for cementing the bonds between communities and checking the spread of the hate campaigns and fascism in the coming years” said Mr. Navaid He added “I sincerely express my gracious thanks to the leadership of the UPA for considering my name as one of the members of the NIC and assure my fullest cooperation in pursuing the causes for which NIC was established at the initial stage and reconstituted by the visionary leadership of the UPA”
