In recent times many got exposed to alcohol & drugs, and many need help, not just medical help, but also rehabilitation from this disease. Many people are still not aware that alcoholism is a disease an incurable disease and alcoholics are sick people who need love, care and moreover attention. They are unaware that due to this disease they face multiple disorders like physical damages, mental damages, spiritual, social, financial damage and this also affects family relationships. The Serenity prayer that is said through out the day makes the participants (patients) understand the presence of Higher Power in their midst and that it is the Higher Power itself that will help them to conquer this disease. Started in 1983 by the Padmashree Award winner, Rev. Fr. Joseph H. Pereira at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, in Bandra, Mumbai, KRIPA is the answer to the increasing number of alcoholics and drug addicts in the city who get admitted for their own rehabilitation. On 15th August, 2009 KRIPA Foundation completed 28 years of enriching and healing alcoholics & drug addicts from their disease.
