Toronto, Canada: March 8, 2010. (PCP) Agnes Massey, President of Pakistan Christian Congress PCC Canadian Chapter said here today on International Day of Women that Pakistani Christian women are deprived of their equal rights and suffering under Sharia law. Agnes Massey said “I predicted during General Elections of 1985, just after the Referendum of President General Zia ul Haq, who announced Hadood Ordinance through Maglis-e-shora. I protested from his stage that Chastity of Christian girls is not safe. President asked me what happened? I replied that due to Qanoon-e-Shahadat, if Muslim will abduct a lady from Minority communities and commit adultery, then evidence will be from Muslim side and not from non-Muslim’s side, which is very unjust. and burning point of the day. President asked me for representation, which I handed over to him immediately, who thanked me for quick response” Moreover I pointed out to President Zial-Ul-Haq that Constituency for the National assembly is the whole country and for the Provincial Assembly is the whole province for minorities. It’s very difficult to reach to our voters. I further suggested that there should be a double vote system. President announced from Chitral ,that he is responsible for the chastity of ladies from the minority communities. Then Sharia Bill was tabled in the National Assembly which was passed only by120 members while mandatory majority to pass a Bill should be 2/3 members. So practice of Sharia Act on non Muslims is illegal and unconstitutional could be challenged and it's easy for present Government to exempt minorities from Sharia act and allow them to practice their own personal laws. According to the Constitution of Pakistan, Minorities are free to practice their religion while according to the Holy scriptures Christians are not allowed to embrace laws of other religion. You advised me to send my picture of speech with this article which I already sent you last week.
