Karachi: May 24, 2010. (PCP) “May 20, 2010, EU Parliament Resolution on Religious Freedom in Pakistan shall play positive role to stop persecution of Christians, Ahmadi,s and other religious communities in Pakistan” said Nazir S Bhatti, Chief of Pakistan Christian Congress Pakistan Christian Congress PCC have paid homage to members of European Union Parliament on adopting Resolution on Religious Freedom of Minorities, expressing concerns on misuse of blasphemy laws and not awarding equal basic democratic rights to Christians Ahmedi,s, Hindus, Sikhs and other religious minorities in Pakistan. Pakistan Christian Congress PCC also condemned Pakistan Government and Federal Minister for Minorities who attempted to mislead EPP and MEP,s to block this resolution with presentations against true situation of minorities in Pakistan. Nazir Bhatti added “EU Resolution will force Pakistan to think twice on Globalizing blasphemy law to present Defamation of Religion resolution again in UNHRC on behalf of OIC” Pakistan Christian Congress clarified that 20 million Pakistani Christians observed Black Day on August 11, 2009, when government of Pakistan announced to celebrate “Minority Day” . There were protests and black flags through out Pakistan in Christian colonies while Shahbaz Bhatti, Federal Minister for Minorities was attending only one function in Islamabad to mark his Minority Day. It is fact that majority of Pakistani Christians have rejected Selection of Minority parliamentarians and have always demanded Election of their Representatives. It is on record that Federal Minister for Minorities is not elected by votes of Christians but selected by Pakistan Peoples Party. PCC also rejected 4 seats in Senate of Pakistan because such seats will be also under Selection System and will benefit Muslim political groups nor general Christian voters who have been deprived of their voting rights under imposed Joint Electorate System. Dr. Nazir S Bhatti, President of Pakistan Christian Congress PCC said that 5% Quota is not proportional to our population when Ahmedi, Hindu, Sikhs and other religious minorities will share it with us also. Moreover, Christian tools of government and members of parliament are selling job quota and making millions. “Without Quota for Christian youth in Medical colleges, Engineering Colleges and Universities, the 5%Quota in jobs is mockery to Christians” added Nazir Bhatti Nazir Bhatti urged EU Parliament to press upon government of Pakistan to repeal blasphemy law and not to trust promises of Shahbaz Bhatti, Federal Minister for Minorities that government will amend this law in end of 2010, because he assured on many forums that he will present draft resolution to revise blasphemy law in national assembly in 2009, but failed to do so.
