Muzaffarabad: June 10, 2010. (PCP) The alliance of local political parties and civil society organizations advocating for the reconstruction of quake raged region of Kashmir, Tahrek Tameer –e-Nau (TNN) has announced to launch a signatory campaign against the delay of rebuilding process and the closure of development schemes. It was decided in a consultative meeting participated by the representatives of local political parties, trade unions and NGOs. The Convener of Tahrek Tameer –e-Nau (TNN) Zahid Amin Kashif presided over the meeting. The meeting decided to arrange protest rallies and demonstrations before the National Assembly of Pakistan and ERRA Headquarters against the non completion of rebuilding process of cities damaged in October 08 earthquake which struck three districts of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Khyber Pakthoonkhwa region in 2005. The meeting unanimously decided to start a signatory campaign in all affected areas where thousands of citizens would lodge their protest against the delay of rehabilitation projects. The signatory campaign would be concluded in front of the headquarters Earthquake Reconstruction & Rehabilitation Authority (ERRA), which is the supervisory and implementing authority for rebuilding process of three districts of Azad Kashmir. The speakers protested against the discriminatory policies of government and ERRA officials and said that Azad Jammu and Kashmir government has no right to abandon the approved schemes. The government has dropped various development and rebuilding projects which is against the spirit of Master Plan, which has been proposed to provide modern facilities to the citizens of earthquake hit areas. The speakers urged government to sufficient funds for the lands allocated or proposed for the projects.
