Karachi: June 16, 2010. (PCP) Dr. Nazir S Bhatti, President of Pakistan Christian Congress PCC said that Christians in Pakistan not trust in promises of Shahbaz Bhatti, Federal Minister for Minorities that he will bring legislation to revise blasphemy law because he claimed it in 2009 also but failed to fulfill his commitment. Pakistan Christian Congress PCC announced that Blasphemy laws shall be challenged in Supreme Court of Pakistan to pray for repeal of it because it is like sword on necks of millions of Christians and other religious minorities in Pakistan. On pretext to blasphemy law, hundreds of homes have been destroyed, pastors gunned down, Churches vandalized and Christians burnt alive in Pakistan by Muslim mobs. Nazir Bhatt said “we appreciate campaigns of signature petition by some International and National Christian organization to press upon government to repeal blasphemy law in Pakistan but we must keep in mind that Pakistan have very weak democracy without any moral standings that a simple petition shall force government to repeal controversial laws: “The Blasphemy law was legislated on directives of Higher Courts in Pakistan and PCC believes that Judiciary can repeal it when its contrary to basic human rights guaranteed in constitution of Pakistan” added Nazir Bhatti Pakistan Christian Congress PCC is awaiting for draft legislation of Minority Minister Shahbaz Bhatti to be presented in parliament as he recently claimed during his visit to EU. “PCC do not want to make Shahbaz Bhatti run away from his promises this time because if PCC files petition in Supreme Court of Pakistan before his proposed draft resolution legislation in national assembly of Pakistan, he will make it an excuse that matter is in Supreme Court of Pakistan, so, he cant present repeal legislation“ clarified Dr. Nazir Bhatti PCC legal time is regularly monitoring situation and ready to file lawsuit to repeal blasphemy law in Supreme Court of Pakistan on any convenient time. Nazir Bhatti urged leaders of organizations who are campaigning for signature petition to repeal blasphemy law in Pakistan to join hands with Pakistan Christian Congress and become signatory in lawsuit.
