Islamabad: July 22, 2010: (PCP) Human Rights group Press For Peace (PFP) on Thursday condemned the murder of two Christian citizens in Faisalabad and urged the government of Pakistan to bring the killers to the justice. In a press statement issued here on Thursday, Director Press for Peace (PFP) T H Shah called the killing pre-planned ‘as it was committed within the precincts of the court where the security was certain.’ Shah demanded the government to provide the financial assistance to the victim family and also to ensure the independent and across-the-board inquiry of the matter to bring the culprits to the justice. He maintained that this recent shocking murder has displayed the existence of intolerance and extremist elements in Pakistan. He said that root cause of this heinous crime by unknown person is the existence of Blasphemy Laws on Statute Book which support the Islamists to charge the minorities without taking into account the true spirit of Islam and human values. “Religion in Pakistan has been exploited for political and economic gains while the current version of Islam practiced by various religious factions has nothing to do with Islam,” he added. Keeping in view the current socio-political circumstances in Pakistan, Shah demanded the restructuring and implementation of political system in Pakistan on secular pattern like Malaysia, Turkey and Egypt to some degree.
