UK: November 12, 2010. (PCP) Mr. Stephen Green, National Director of Christian Voice issued a News Alert that on Sunday we shall remember those who gave their lives for our freedom. Some of the last World War II veterans must wonder what their colleagues in arms gave their lives for as they look around Britain today. But all is not lost. The arm of the God who saved this nation through history is not shortened that it cannot save. But are Christian men prepared today to endure hardness as a soldier to stand up for Christ?
One who is, at the age of 91, is SAAF veteran Steve Stevens DFC. He records his wartime exploits flying Beaufighters into Nazi-occupied Yugoslavia, as it then was, in his book Beaufighter over the Balkans. From then Steve went on to help found Mission Aviation Fellowship. From his home in Worthing, Steve and his wife Kay were prominent in the Festival of Light, standing for righteousness and opposing wickedness to this day.
To mark the occasion, The Sunday Mirror plans to honour Steve and a wartime comrade of his with a centre-page spread on Remembrance Sunday. The paper would be well worth buying (assuming you buy Sunday papers).
