Pakistani Church leaders say Article 295 misused against minorities.

HYDERABAD, December 20, 2010: (By Abbas Kassar) The leaders of newly formed Hyderabad Churches Alliance have observed that article 295-C of criminal law was being misused. They said that its aim to promulgate was respect and sanctity of prophets of all religions but due to its misuse not only Christians but other religious minorities were also feeling uneasy. It was being used to settle personal scores as such the innocent people were being made its target. Addressing press conference and later replying to questions of newsmen here on Monday the leader of newly formed Hyderabad Churches Alliance. Father Victor M.Dean said that Christians of Pakistan had given sacrifices for creation of Pakistan and they were very much patriot citizens of this country. He said no Christian could ever think of talking against Islam and its prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and that they also have deep respect for Islam as such none among them could commit blasphemy. He said that a Christian woman Asiya Bibi was in jail as she was sentenced to death by a court. He thanked Christians and also Muslims for raising voice for her. He said the aims and objects of forming new alliance was to get all Church leaders of Hyderabad region on one platform so that they could extend congratulations to all Christians on the eve of Christmas 2010 and new year 2011.He said that the purpose of advent of Christ in this world was to provide peace, security, brotherhood and conciliation. He said that all Christians including Church leaders were all pray for security, integrity and development of Pakistan He said Christian have also role in making Pakistan and at present they were united with Muslim brothers like a wall to offer every kind of sacrifice for sake of country. He informed that the alliance has completed its 4 years and it was providing spiritual, ethical and legal help to its Christian community. Later the Christians and Church leaders prayed for the integrity and prosperity of Pakistan. A Christmas cake was also sliced on the occasion and distributed. On this occasion Christopher Paul, Kadok Shahzad, Albert Riaz, Minsha M.Gill, Yousuf Prince, Bishop Younis Gill, Riasat Masih and Sohan Lal were present during the program.
