HRFP Condemned the Assassination of Shahbaz Bhatti

Islamabad: March 2, 2011. (PCP) Mr. Naveed Walter President, Human Rights Focus Pakistan (HRFP) condemned the assassination of Shahbaz Bhatti (federal minister for minorities affairs) today morning when he just left his residence at I-8/3 for the federal cabinet meeting at his Car no. GV- 444 Islamabad. Shahbaz Bhatti was fired from the white Mehran car when he was on the way .He was brutally injured by 10 bullets in his body and 25 bullets at his car. The killers left the pamphlets after shoot him in which the names of Islamic fundamentalist groups are written " Fidayan-e-Muhammad & Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan" They said , Shahabaz was able to kill because he was blasphemer as he raised the voice for the repeal of Blasphemy Laws( 295, B/C) and for the release of Asia bibi . His driver Gull Sher carried him to the nearer hospital Alshifa International but he was died before reach to hospital. The spokes man of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, Ahsan Ullah Ahsan has accepted the responsibility of Shahbaz Bhatti's assassination . He said during his phone call to media, "We threaten to Shahbaz Bhatti from a long time but he was not stopped for his struggle ,so today we gives him this punishment". The minorities, human rights activists and HRFP is agitating against the incident and start a campaign with more potential against blasphemy laws .Naveed Walter said ,Shahbaz Bhatti was a great leader of minorities and we salute him for his services for the noble cause. HRFP announced the 7days mourn for his brutal death .
