LARKANA: July 30, 2011. (Nazir Siyal) Provincial Minister for Culture Sassi Paleejo has expressed dissatisfaction over the prevailing conditions of Moen-Jo-Daro and PTDC motel/Rest house along with Airport in Larkana district. Speaking to the media men, after the meeting of first executive Committee board for National Fund for Moen-Jo-Daro, Provincial Minister for Culture said that it is the asset of national as well international, so it is our duty to preserve historical site of Moen-Jo-Daro. She said that stolen precious articles, ancient stamps and others valuables of Moen-Jo-Daro will be returned and those criminals will be punished by re-opening the case of theft of articles in 2002. She further said the condition of rest house/motel is miserable at Moen-Jo-Daro and several time visitors have complained about the non facilities at the site, adding that the vehicle of John Marshal will be repaired and placed at Moen-Jo-Daro building for the visitors. Sassi Paleejo has ordered for the enquiry into the theft of rare articles and corruption in the PTDC Motel as well miserable condition of Moen-Jo-Daro, she added that she will discuss the case with Chief Minister on priority basis. She also asked for the repair and maintenance of rest house and completion of work on PTDC motel immediately, she said the technical committees will be set up on divisional level for better services and protection of archeological sites in Sindh. She said regarding the negligence of work and miserable condition of Moen-Jo-Daro will not be spare any one, adding that the contract of working employees at Moen-Jo-Daro have been extended for one year she said. They will work at the Moen-Jo-Daro for preservation and other development work. Provincial Minster for culture said that the federal government has provided Rs. 64 million, while Rs. 200 million has been requested to the Sindh government for the preservation of Moen-Jo-Daro. Earlier, Provinical Minister for Culture presided over the meeting of executive Committee board for National Fund for Moen-Jo-Daro and directed the officials to start development of sites and cultural committees should final the recommendations. On the occasion, Secretary Culture Abdul Aziz Uqaili, PPP leader Abdul Razaq Soomro, Dr Neelofer Shiakh, Yasmeen Lari, Qassim Ali Qasim and other officials of concerned department were present.
