Three trains collide in Ghotki, 150 dead and hundreds injured. The History of train accidents in Pakistan
SUKKUR: The train accident on Wednesday was the third major train accident in Sindh in the last 15 years. According to Pakistan Railway statistics, the first train accident in Pakistan occurred in Jhampir in 1953 in which 200 passengers died. 60 people died in another train accident in Jhang Shahi in 1954.
Another train accident took place in Liaquatpur in 1969 in which 80 passengers died. The most severe train accident occurred on Jan 3, 1990 in Sangi near Pano Akil when the 26 down Bahauddin Zikria Express coming from Multan collided head on with a stationary passenger train. More than 350 passengers died in the accident. Another train accident took place in Ghotki in 1992 in which 54 passengers died.
