Panel Discussion on Religious and Ethnic Minorities in the Middle East

New York: October 30, 2011. (PCP) New York City Bar will hold a Panel Discussion on Religious and Ethnic Minorities in Middle East on November 8, 2011, at 42 West 44th Street, New York, NY. The plight of religious and ethnic minorities in the Middle East today will be examined by speakers especially knowledgeable about the plight of these various religious and/or ethnic groups. These groups face death or serious injury because of their ethnic or religious identity to assimilate or to leave. What is the current situation of religious minorities and ethnic groups? What challenges do they face? How can the situation be monitored and documented? What can be done to protect and to preserve these communities within the fabric of the Middle East? Mr. Carole Basri, Senior Vice President of Balint, Brown & Basri LLC, will be Moderator of this discussion panel whil Hon. Irwin Cotler, Member of Parliament, Former Attorney General and Minister of Justice of Canada, Dr. Ashraf Ramelah, Founder and President, Human Rights Organization "Voice of the Copts", Anthony Vance, Director of U.S. Baha'I Office of External Affairs for the National Spiritual Assembly, Abe Greenwald, Senior Editor, Commentary Magazine and Brother David Carroll will present case on religious minorities. The Commentators will be Malvina Halberstam, Professor of Law,Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law and Elizabeth Defeis, Professor of Law, Seton Hall University Law School, Former Dean, Seton Hall University Law School.
