Celebration on successful struggle of Islamabad Hospitals Medicos

Islamabad; February 7, 2012. (PCP) Convener World Minorities Alliance J Salik led a colorful rally to celebrate successful struggle of medics and paramedics of three local hospitals whose demands were accepted by the government after a series of month-long protests. J Salik arranged a 24-member musical band, which, playing ‘ham sub aik hain’ and ‘Jeeway Jeeway Pakistan’ tunes , accompanied the rally from Kalsum Plaza on Jinnah Avenue to the premises of Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) where hundreds of employees of PIMS, Polyclinic and NIRM had gathered to warmly receive J Salik. Earlier when J Salik arrived at Kalsum Plaza to lead the rally, he was warmly received by trade union leaders and representatives of business community including Munnawar Mughal, former president and executive member Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry, executive member Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry;.Muhammad Akram Bhatti, Secretary General All Pakistan Sports Boards Employees Union Islamabad;.Raja Waqar Hussain, Secretary General Pak PWD United Workers Federation; Haji Malik Nawab, President Transport Union Islamabad; Kabir Ahmad Kiani,General Secretray Transport Union Islamabad; Muhammad Akram Bunda, Deputy General Secretary Pakistan Workers Federation; Malik Fateh Khan, Chairman Wapda Hydro Union Rawalpindi Zone;Talha Khan, Chairman Line Staff Union Islamabad; Ch, Nadeen, Chairman Sports Boards Union and Wahab Khan, Chairman Wapda Labor Union. Before leading the rally from Kalsum Plaza , where the protesting staff of three local hospitals had staged a successful sit-in (dharna) on February 1, J Salik sprinkled 24 bottles of rose water to pay tribute to the valiant medics and paramedics who thwarted attempts of the local administration to disperse them. J Salik was accorded a warm welcome when he entered the PIMS premises carrying Pakistan flag and shouting ‘ham sab aik hain’ slogan to the tune of musical band. Raising ‘J Salik Zindabad’ slogans, employees of PIMS, Polyclinic and NIRM garlanded J Salik and his wife Mary Salik and presented them bouquets, which were also presented to the trade union leaders and representatives of business community, civil society and human rights who joined J Salik in the rally. Addressing the jubilant medics and paramedics who had gathered at PIMS to welcome him, J Salik announced to donate 90 per cent of his property to the hospitals. He asked Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani to donate 20 per cent of his property to the hospitals.
