Islamabad: May 8, 2012. (PCP) Convener World Minorities Alliance J Salik has warned that if 7000 sanitary workers of Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) were not paid salaries by Wednesday, May 9, they will go on strike from Thursday, May 10.
In a statement issued here Tuesday J Salik said delay in payment of salaries to 7000 sanitary workers had occurred due to unlawful decision of transferring their services from Solid Waste Management department to the Lahore Waste Management Company.
J Salik said in view of Accountant General Punjab’s observation that public money could not be spent in private manner, services of 7000 sanitary workers of Lahore Waste Management Company be immediately transferred back to Solid Waste Management department.
He expressed the hope that authorities concerned will take timely action to avoid sanitation crisis in the capital city.
