South Asian Council of Christian Churches formed in Canada

Toronto: May 18, 2012. (PCP) Keeping in view the great commandment of our Lord Jesus Christ mentioned in Matthew 28:19 and to preach Gospel effectively. Since the formation of Toronto United Christian Convention was established in 2010 we are pleased to announce good news to our south Asian community. Moreover another milestone was reached which was to establish to form a South Asian Christian church council with the main idea to enhance unity among South Asian churches, a need was felt by different Pastors of various denominations to form a church council. In this connection, a meeting of South Asian Pastors was held on May 17, 2012 at St. Paul Presbyterian church 723 Balmoral Drive, Brampton. In the presence of the following ordained Pastors: Rev. Dr. Sarwar Din of Asian Evangelical Church, Rev. James Luke of Lutheran Intercultural Ministry, Rev. Edwin Riaz of United Apostolic Church, Rev. Dr. Rashid Gill of Light Bearers of Christ Church, Rev. Dr. David Charles of Free-lance ministries, Rev. B.M. Benjamin of Warriors of the Cross Pentecostal Church, Rev. Javed Iqbal / Rev. C. Patrick of Asian Christian Alliance Church, Rev. Suleman Khokhar of Prayerstone Peoples Church, Rev. Parkash Masih of New Life Asian Christian Centre, Rev. Dr. Soloman Naz of Free-lance ministries and Rev. Basharat David of Asian Evangelical Church Rev. Din said that we are delighted to inform our community that a council under the name of “South Asian Council of Christian Churches” was formed and the following office bearers were elected by the house unanimously. Moderator: Rev. Dr. Sarwar Din Vice Moderator: Rev. Dr. Rashid Gill Treasurer: Bishop Edwin Riaz Rev. Dr. Gill said that we are grateful for all Pastors and community members for their prayers and co –operation. Look forward to work for unity of South Asian Churches and to fight jointly against heresies and to preach Gospel according to established doctrines of the Holy Bible.
