The Seminar on “Grave of Forced Conversions & Forced Marriages in Pakistan” was held under the Chairmanship of Ms. Jacqueline Sultan on Thursday, 6th September, 2012 at 03:30 pm at Avari Towers, Karachi organized by Global Human Rights Alliance (G.H.R.A). Now therefore, the participants of this Seminar are unanimously agreed to pass the following resolution pertaining to “Grave of Forced Conversions & Forced Marriages in Pakistan” as under.
The following Resolutions were adopted:
• Resolved that the participants of this Seminar demand that the Government of Pakistan may be pleased to enact and legislate a Bill / Act so as to prohibit Forced Conversions and Forced Marriages.
• Resolved that this Bill / Act of Forced Conversions & Forced Marriages be enacted in consultation with all the religious minorities / Ullemas of the majority community.
• Resolved that all the discriminatory practices / laws against the religious minorities may be abolished / repealed.
• Resolved that intimidation, harassment, targeted killings by the extortionists in Minorities Settlements and Colonies be stopped forthwith and the lives and properties be protected.
• Further, resolved that the Christian girl namely Rimsha Masih be acquitted without further delay.
In this Seminar other than the participants, the following representatives of NGOs, Clergy (Catholic & Protestant Churches), Advocates, Political Parties, Ullemas addressed: -
The Archbishop Joseph Coutts, Mr. Malik Muhammad Atta, Ex, MPA Sindh (Ahmedi Community), Dr. Mohan Lal, Minister Minorities Affairs Sindh (Hindu Community), Saleem Khursheed Khokhar, MPA Sindh (Christian Community) Mr. Pitambar Sewani, MPA Sindh (Hindu Community), Mr. Ramesh Singh, President Pakistan Sikh Council (Sikh Community), Senator Abbas Kumeli (Muslim Community), Senator (R) Iqbal Haider (Muslim Community) and Mr. Chettan Mal MPA Sindh (Hindu Community) were speakers.
