Philadelphia: September 21, 2012. (PCP) J Salik, former federal minister from Pakistan and a one-time nominee for Noble Peace Prize, is on US tour to promote the rights of world minorities. In an informal visit to the residence of Dr. Nazir S. Bhatti, J Salik emphasized the need for bringing Pakistan’s minorities to the main stream politics through election and not selection. At present, Pakistani political parties handpick the minority members of its parliament according to their likings and self-interests.
J Salik categorically condemned the intentional hate crimes in streets, hate speeches in mosques and inciting videos of the West that have the destroyed the peace of this world. While Pakistan’s President, Asif Ali Zardari is due to speak at the United Nations’ General Assembly next week, J Salik intends to bring to the attention of Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon that the United Nation must pay special attention to the atrocities committed toward minorities of various countries because minorities are the parameter of tolerance in any society.
