Lahore: September 22, 2012. (Shahzad Kamran) A Christian lady mother of two children has been threatened by Muslims angry over controversial anti-Islam movie. Mehwish is a staff nurse, married with two one son and a daughter is facing problems due to her angry Muslim colleagues in hospital. Mehwish was asked to join a rally to condemn blasphemous movie on this Friday 21st September, declared as “A Day for Love Prophet Mohammad”. This is pertinent to mention here that almost all over in Pakistan millions of Pakistani Muslim staged a procession to against blasphemous movie made in USA and showed their love with their Prophet Mohammad. Mehwish’s colleagues became angry with her when she refused them to join their protest saying she is allowed by her husband to be involved any kind of such activity. “My Muslim staff nurses, other medical and Para-medical staff became very angry with me; they started abusing me when I said that I am not allowed to join their rally. My husband was already very much concern about me as the day seemed very heavy all around in Pakistan.” frightened Mehwish stated with a fear on her face. She further said, “My husband kept phoning me and asking am I okay while I was on duty. On the other hand a Muslim colleague who is also a Muslim cleric, threatened me that he will teach me a lesion for refusing joining the rally. He became so aggressive and continuously threatened me of dire consequences. I am afraid he can accuse me of blasphemy to destroy my career and to put me into prison; he can also cause me to be killed. I am as upset as I have my little children.” Mehwish has applied to leaves for perhaps three months just to avoid the dangerous situation and to save her from any unwanted circumstances but the leaves are not granted yet. The Muslims have responded over Anti-Islam movie so strongly, they looted banks, burnt buildings, cars and hospitals to show their anger. A church has been burnt in Mardan, Christians are under clouds of fear. It is not beyond any doubt that Mehwish is insecure at her work place. Mehwish is not an only Christian who is facing such problems; there are many Christian who are facing the same difficulties. She should be provided with all support and security at her hospital and government should take a strict action against the person who threatened Mehwish.
