Karachi: November 8, 2012. (PCP) A delegation led by Taj Marri and others of Bandar Sanghat Qasimabad, Hyderabad met with Saleem Khursheed Khokhar, MPA Sindh, Chairman Standing Committee on Minorities Affairs of Sindh Assembly and President of All Pakistan Minorities Alliance (APMA) and apprised him about issue bonded labour in Qasimabad and Sindh.
Mr. Taj Marri and the delegation informed that coercive methods are being used to take labour from the labourers who have been bounded and no compensation is paid to them.
Mr. Saleem Khursheed Khokhar assured them that he will raise his issue in the Sindh Assembly and said that after the 18th Amendment of Constitution of Pakistan the Provincial Governments are empowered to take action in such matters as the bonded labour is serious violation of human rights and illegal act on the part of those who have bonded the labourers and taking labour by force without paying the compensation.
Since this labour is being taken without the payment of wages by force and committing atrocities from the poor people which is also a criminal act on the part of the persons who are taking labour without compensation.
The persons who have bonded the labour are not only violating the human rights but they are also violating the labour laws.
Mr. Saleem Khursheed Khokhar MPA Sindh stressed and assured the delgation that he will meet with the Provincial Law Minister to adobt the labour law.
