Sanglahill is an old town near Faisalabad, Pakistan, with a population of 450 to 500 Christian families living here for years and years. On 12th of November 2005, a Muslim mob of more than 1000 extremists and fundamentalists just attacked on the Christian properties without any reason or cause and have destroyed Churches, convent and hostel and houses of the Christians. The Parish priest Rev. Fr. Samson Dilawar along with the local Christian leaders already informed the SHO of Sanglahill before hand, about the roaming news of attack by the Muslim mob on the Christian institutions and Church properties. But the SHO did not listen and paid any attention towards the protection of the Christian institutions. He totally ignored and did not take any security measures. The administration has been totally failed to protect the Christians and their properties and places of worship. Instead of protecting the minorities and their holy Churches the police was just standing statue and watching the mob doing destruction. On 12th November 2005, at 10:00 a.m. a Muslim mob attacked the Christian properties and Christian settlements in the city of Sanglahill. Catholic, Presbyterian, and Salvation Army Church, convent, girls hostel and three houses of the poor innocent Christians are put on to fire. Christian League of Pakistan in America, PA is greatly shocked and grieved to hear this sad news of Sanglahill incident. It is indeed a big incident, which caused a lot of destruction and harassment to the Christians of Sanglahill particularly and of the Pakistan in general. We the members of the Christian League of Pakistan in America, PA are equally sorrowful and share the pain of this inhuman behavior of the Muslims involved in destruction of Christian properties. The Christian League of Pakistan in America, PA on behalf of the Christian community in America strongly urge the Local Government and Pakistan Government to take firm measure to prevent from this kind of religious discrimination and protect the Christian community, their worship places and their properties. On Sanglahill incident, Christian League condemns all the negligence and ignorance of Pakistani authorities and demand that all the people involved in this attach should be punished and a peaceful environment be created for a healthy and living environment of all people of all religions without any discrimination or persecution. It is notable that Pakistani Government has always been failed to take firm measures and provide justice to religious minorities in Pakistan in the past years. There have been a number of incidents and attacks on the Christian properties, worship places and villages i.e. Shantinagar, Bahawalpur Church Attack, Taxela Church, Chianwala Daska Sialkot Church attack and hundreds of other similar cases. It is also sorrowful that the Pakistani news and T.V. media has played a very passive role in brining up this news to the people. We condemn the role of Pakistani media and demand a full support from the Pakistani media to cover the news and give a detailed information to the people for a justified coverage. We also demand that all the damaged and destroyed Church buildings, Convent and Hostel buildings should be immediately re-constructed and repaired by the Government of Pakistan. We also demand, that Government of Pakistan should take measure for the reconciliation of the innocent Christian children, women, and the elders of Sanglahill who have been greatly shocked and suffered from a deep grief because of this attack based on religious discrimination. We all the Pakistani Christians in America are in deep grief and offer special prayers for all the suffering Christian community of Sanglahill, Pakistan.
