SHEIKHUPURA, Pakistan: A 25-year-old Christian man remains in critical condition after being shot during a violent altercation in a
Lahore: December 23, 2012. (PCP) Mr. Sardar Mushtaq Gill Advocate, President of Pakistan Congress Lahore Council and Chief of LEAD have demanded justice for 6 years old Hindu girl who was raped in interior Sindh and rapists are still at large.
Mr. Gill said that he is not satisfied with the investigation of police in case of little girl Hindu girl Vijanti and demanded for a special team to ensure justice.
On 4th December 2012 six year old Vijanti Meghwar was brutally raped in Ghulam Nabi Shah village, district Taluka Pithoro Umerkot in remote district of Sindh province of Pakistan. Vijanti belongs to the Meghwar community of the country’s minority Hindu population. She was found unconscious and lying in the street. Such a heinous crime was made easier by the fact that the Meghwars are Hindu and therefore powerless and helpless against mass intolerance and bigotry.
The tragic case of Vijanti is therefore not an isolated phenomenon. In August 2012 a Christian minor girl from Sahiwal, a city in Punjab, Pakistan, was murdered after being "gang raped" by a group of five Muslim men.
On July 11, 2012 Pastor Aurangzeb' sister kidnapped by some influential Muslims when she was coming back home after taking exams. She was rapped many days by Muslims men and subsequently forcibly converted and forcibly married. Her abductors had powerful political connections and after two months the country’s lower court ruled against her parents.
Kidnappings, rapes, forcible conversions, land grabbing ,blasphemy laws and constant harassment are therefore a daily routine for Minorities who dare to remain in their homeland of Pakistan and suffer the humiliation of being third class citizens and subhumans in the eyes of the majority and legal system.
LEAD is a Christian relief, development and advocacy organization dedicated and committed to work with passion for Children, families and communities to overcome poverty and injustice, especially for discrimination, forced labor and forced conversion and falsely accused of blasphemy laws. We request to be partner in this mission with LEAD, as followers of Jesus, we are motivated by God's love to serve all people regardless of race, religion, gender or ethnicity.
