CCA Seniors Meet and Greet with Minister Alice Wong

Toronto: January 26, 2013. (PCP) CCA hosted a Seniors Meet and Greet Session with the State Minister for seniors, Hon. Alice Wong, on January 24, 2013 in Burlington, Ontario. There were many seniors in attendance from various communities. President Canadian Christian Association, Mr. John Gill, Eng., MBA started the program by welcoming remarks and thanked the Minister for taking the time out of her busy schedule to attend the event. Moreover, Mr. Gill gave a brief history and snapshot of the CCA’s work and accomplishments over the years. Prof. Obaid Chaudry, CPA, CMA., CA., and past president of CCA, briefly explained about the services available to seniors from various levels of governments, and highlighted the various Programs, Seminar, and activities held by CCA in the past for seniors. He also gave a tribute to two of the past president of CCA, who passed away during the last month, namely: Dr. A. D. Asimi (first president) and Mr. Wilbert Isaacs (3rd president). Mr. J. C. Malik, lawyer and past president of CCA, made several suggestions during his speech. Dr. Zari Gill was the MC for the evening, and introduced the Minister, who highlighted various programs and services available to the seniors. Minister Wong also answered several questions from the attendees regarding programs and services. She also gave greetings from the Prime Minister, Stephen Harper, and Hon. Jason Kenney, Minister of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism.
