Indian Christian write to President of Pakistan on persecution of Christian in Pakistan
Bhopal: March 11, 2013. (PCP) Isai Maha Sangh(IMS) expressed anguish over the violent attack against Christians in Joseph Colony, Lahore, Pakistan. Isai Maha Sangh held prayer for suffering minority people in Pakistan.
Isai Maha Sangh wrote a letter to Pakistan President Shri. Asif Ali Zardari , UN Secretary General, Shri. Ban-Ki-moon and Indian Prime Minister Shri. Manmohan Singh. In the letter IMS highlighted the plight of Minorities in Pakistan. It is since long years the fundamental elements are using Blasphemy Law against Hindu and Christian minorities.
The recent incidents of violent attacks against Christians in Pakistan are one of those many incidents taking place there in Pakistan. IMS requested the Pakistan President, UN Secretary General and Indian Prime Minister to initiate steps to end this draconic law. The Blasphemy Law has become a tool to set scores against the minorities.
IMS Coordinator Fr. Anand Muttungal said, “The violence against minorities has become very common in Pakistan by misusing the Blasphemy Law. The law may have been made with a good intention but in the present context it has become a tool in the hands of fundamentals to punish the minorities.”
IMS General Secretary Jerry Paul said that UN Secretary General and Indian Prime Minister will have to tell Pakistan the importance of Freedom of Religion and Human Rights. There is gross violation of freedom of Minorities. IMS will continue to support the issues related to Freedom of Religion and Human Rights anywhere in the world.”
It is very important to note that many important leaders in Pakistan had to sacrifice their lives for opposing this draconic law
