Pakistan supports unity and territorial integrity of Ukraine. Senator Mushahid

Islamabad: March 14, 2014. (PCP) The Chairman of the Senate Defence Committee, Senator Mushahid Hussain has said that Pakistan fully supports the unity, territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine, and rejects any attempt by use of force or otherwise to change internationally recognized and universally accepted borders. Senator Mushahid Hussain made these remarks in a meeting with Ambassador of Ukraine, Volodymyr Lakomov, who called on him at his Parliamentary office. The Ambassador explained to him the position of the government of Ukraine and also briefed him on recent development in his country. Senator Mushahid Hussain said that Pakistan and Ukraine enjoyed close, cooperative relations, and Ukraine had always supported Pakistan by providing good quality defence equipment which has helped in Pakistan’s national security. Senator Mushahid Hussain said that in the 21st Century, the internationally political order was governed by certain principles based on international law and the UN Charter and the foundation of such an international order was non-interference in internal affairs as well as inviolability of state frontiers. Senator Mushahid Hussain called for a peaceful resolution of the Ukraine crisis, and hoped that the international community would also support the preservation and protection of state borders of Ukraine and oppose any attempt to use force in this crisis. The Ambassador of Ukraine thanked Senator Mushahid Hussain for his principled position on the situation of Ukraine.
