Lahore: March 17, 2014. (PCP) Centre for Human Rights Education, a human rights organization working for religious tolerance and social harmony in Pakistan has condemned the attack on the worship places and properties of the Hindu Community on in Larkana- Sindh. In a statement issued by Centre for Human Rights Education’s Director Mr. Samson Salamat expressed deep concerns over the attacks and extended solidarity with the Hindu Community. Mr. Samson Salamat also participated in the ceremony of Holi in Lahore to extend solidarity with the leadership of the Hindu Community Pakistan. Mr. Samson Salamat at this occasion said that there have been attacks on the religious minorities very frequently across the country, but the state machinery has not moved for appropriate measures for protection of the religious minorities of the country. If the government has taken some stern action against the fanatics and extremists involved in the attacks on the minorities in the past, the Larkana incident would have not happened. The act of terror against the Hindu Community on the eve of their Festival Holi is the breach of the spirit of any democratic and pluralistic society and even against the philosophy of the founder of Pakistan who guaranteed equal rights to the citizens without any religious discrimination. Mr. Samson Salamat demanded that the latest incident against the Hindu Community should be treated as a wake-up call by the Federal and the provincial governments. The government should take stern and exemplary action against all the culprits involved in attacks on the Hindu Community. Mr. Samson Salamat emphasized that an impartial investigation should be carried out to reveal that why this situation was created on the eve of the Holi and the elements behind this act of terror should be revealed and brought to justice.
