No Minorities Representation in 33 Members Election Reform Committee of Pakistan

Islamabad: August 3, 2014. (PCP) Convener World Minorities Alliance J Salik expressed his grievances on 33-Membered Election Reforms Committee and said that the formation of committee is totally against National Flag because the flag shows that there are minorities living in Pakistan as well with majority but committee shows that there are only one religion people in Pakistan. He said that how awkward it looks that among 33 members of committee there is not even a single minority member. The shape of constitution is totally changed because of so many amendments and that is why there are 70 unconstitutional seats in National Assembly only and almost same sort of situation is in provisional assemblies, said J Salik. He said that it’s a great conspiracy against minorities due to which the representation of minorities is being vanished gradually. Our National Anthem also shows that Pakistan is not made for a single group or belief but it’s the country of every one who lives in it. He said that I have already challenged the eighteenth amendment in Supreme Court which is still pending; I will not only challenge the committee in Supreme Court but will protest against it all over the country as well. The worst problem in system is that minorities are in selection instead of election and the major task of election reforms committee is to bring the minorities back in election and all the stake holders must be the part of reforms committee who are being effected with present system, said J Salik.
