Peshawar: October 14, 2014. (By Khalid Shahzad) The Ullasi Tehrik KPK organized one day seminar on Status of minorities in KPK with the cooperation of OXFAOM, Peace humanity development, SDS. The speaker were Iftikhar Hussain,(ANP) Dr. Saeed Alam(Pat) Haroon Sarb Diyal( Hindu Guru)Farooq Gujjar(Awami Jamuri Party) Engineer Toor Gull Fata (Peace Jarga Head) Molana M. Younis, Begum Nusrat Jihan(Sap) KPK. Hasham Babar (Qomin Watan Party) Mr. Khalid Shahzad Ex. Vice Chairman NPCIH was invited as guest speaker. I add modern progressive Pakistan and province as it envisioned by Quid-e-Azam. The elimination of discrimination laws is need of the time for the promotion of interfaith harmony and for the development of pluralistic society in Pakistan. Mr. Haroon Lal said that keeping in view various issues being faced by minorities in KPK, FATA LIKE domicile. The 20 extra marks to Hafiz Quran give the clear edge to the Muslims over non-Muslims students at the time of admission in higher class which is a blatant injustice in education. The criterion for nomination against reserved seats for minorities should also be altered in way that respective communities could have their say in the process of selection/election. The role of minorities in decision making process, menial jobs, stigmatized with Christians and Hindus with utterly derogatory terms, forced conversions and marriages of non-Muslims women are the issues of prime concern and should be redressed through legal and administrative measures. The Govt and Parliament should revisit and reform personal laws of religious minorities especially marriage, divorce, inheritance and law of evidence to ensure justice and equality. It is our demand of all minorities that the political parties must fulfill their promises that have made part of their election manifestos regarding minorities. The representative of various groups including Christians, Hindus, Sikhs, and other were also present on the occasion.
