Pakistan: November 26, 2014. (PCXP) Convener World Minorities Alliance & Former Federal Minister J Salik led a “Mourn Prayer” with dwellers of the slum and pastors against electricity issues in F-6/2 Slum, and prayed for fulfillment of their need and Wisdom for WAPDA, in front of National Press Club. J Salik addressed on the occasion and said that what a great ill-fate is that poor have no right on resources of their own country. He said that F-6/2 Slum is situated only one foot far away from Super Market in the capital city of Pakistan but they are facing the issues of electricity which is a great stigma on the face of WAPDA and worst cruelty is that IESCO provide only 1 meter to 500 houses in this slum since last 14 years because of this reason residents have to pay huge bills every month and have to face the issues of electricity failure daily. He said that majority of slum residents are poor and giving services in different government departments, its hard to manage their bread and butter of their houses and the incredible growth in electricity prices are making their lives more difficult. He said that all the children are studying but electricity issues are constantly being ignored. J Salik said that there is no need of any NOC because this slum is legal and WAPDA is charging the same rate as others are paying but WAPDA is not providing even a single service to residents, dwellers purchased all the wires and other necessary things themselves, residents paid 25 crore rupees to WAPDA even. He said that we are mourning against the Christmas of poor in such a Dark.
