PCC pays homage to martyr Bishop John Joseph on his death anniversary

Karachi: May 6, 2015. (PCP) The Central Executive Council of Pakistan Christian Congress PCC in a press note have demanded government of Pakistan to arrest killers of Bishop John Joseph. Bishop John Joseph was mysteriously shot in head on May 6, 1998, in darkness of administration compound of Sahiwal district where he went to meet any government official when he was in this city to protest on death sentence to blasphemy victim Ayub Masih. Without any investigation of shooting of Bishop John Joseph by Sahiwal Police it was announced by Catholic Bishop Conference of Pakistan on same night that Bishop John Joseph committed “Suicide” Dr. Nazir S Bhatti, President of Pakistan Christian Congress in statement here today released by PCC Central secretariat said that killers of Bishop John Joseph were so powerful that they forced Catholic Bishops Conference to announce or admit “Suicide” of Bishop John Joseph without any police enquiry or investigation. On May 6, 1998, when Bishop John Joseph went to Sahiwal to perform Mass and address protest gathering on court verdict to a blasphemy victim Ayub Masih from Sahiwal; he received a message from government officials to meet him in court compounds of Sahiwal where administration are situated; Before leaving to Catholic Dioceses offices in Faisalabad, Bishop John Joseph asked Fr. Farooq to go to Court Compounds first; he asked Fr. Farooq to stay in car and walked to court offices in darkness. After sometime Fr. Farooq heard sound of gun shots on which he ran toward court compound and found body of Bishop John Joseph in blood. No investigation was conducted and same late-night Catholic Bishops Conference announced that Bishop John Joseph committed suicide. Nazir Bhatti demanded re-investigation of murder of Bishop John Joseph that killers may be brought before law.
