Only 5% NGO,s delivering in Sindh from 10,000 registered with SWD Sindh

LARKANA: May 21, 2015. (PCP) There are over 10,000 registered NGOs in Sindh among 5 percent only active to perform in the different social activities. Secretary Social Welfare Department Sindh Shah Rukh while in press conference here at Larkana Press Club, he expressed that Social Welfare Department has taken a task to provide skill development trainings to deprived sections of the society among Eunuchs, She-male, Transgender and Beggars at different areas in the beautician course, stitching, computers and others. The vocational courses will be initiated to increase their skills so that they could earn their livelihood with honor and dignity the Secretary said. Secretary Social Welfare Department further told that department is going to establish Child protection unit, Senior Citizen houses and three more Darul Amaan with cost of Rs 160 millions in Nawabshah, Mirpurkhas and Jacobabad to facilitate the public. To a question about the ill-response and negative behavior of Darul Ammaan Incharge as well communication gap between administration and Media, he assured that Darul Ammaan is a judicial custody and sub jail as well, however prepared new SOPs to engage 3 NGOs among Rosen, Shirkat gah and IRC which had been collaboratively working for betterment and positive developments he told. Additional Secretary Population Welfare Department Sindh Abdul Aleem Lashari, while speaking on the occasion, said that his department has taken milestone initiative to facilitate 5000 Eunuchs (Khuwaja Saras) in Sindh by providing them trainings and capacity building courses in order to enhance their living standard and creating employment opportunities for them. He said that She-male, Transgender, Eunuchs and Baggers are part of society and right to languish their life in respectful manner and get rid of dancing and bagging and other hardships. Mr Lashari informed that there are several jobs including 17 grades in Social Welfare Department which would be filled very soon and it will meet shortage of employees. Replying question about three missing women who escaped from Darul Amman Larkana few months back, Abdul Aleem Lashari said that it is responsibility on Police to investigate the incident and recover the missing inmates.
