HFO on ground to resolve conflict peacefully in Dhoop Sari among Muslim-Christian

Lahore: May 26, 2015. (PCP) On May 25, 2015 at 6 pm a mob of almost 20,000 people gathered in Lahore’s area Dhoop Sari, where more than 250 Christian families reside. A mentally disabled and drug addict Christian young boy named Hamayon Faisal was accused of burning the sacred papers. The police had arrested him immediately and lodged a FIR for the case 295 B. His mother had provided the medical certificate of his mental illness to the police. Even the police had arrested the accused, even then the mob of 20,000 people attacked on Christian residential area. The vulnerable Christians locked their homes and fled from the area and the angry mob broke the locks and doors of the homes of the people and grabbed their belongings. 35 people lost their belongings such as jewlery, money and their property was damaged. The police arrested 18 people out of the mob of 20,000 people. Due to fear most of the Christians of this area especially women, young girls and children didn’t return to their homes. The situation is very conflicting in Lahore, because recently aftermath situation of Youhanabad Churches blast had already created a big conflict in Lahore among Muslims and Christians and now this new incident of Dhoop Sari Lahore has deepen the rift and gaps among Muslims and Christians. Now the innocent and vulnerable Christians are facing very active discrimination almost in every facet of life. Mr. Sajid Christopher, President of Human Friends Organization HFO said that (HFO) is on ground to resolve the conflicting situation peacefully. Human Friends Organization (HFO) is the ever first organization, who arrived in this area and conducted the fact finding investigation led by the President Sajid Christopher, National Coordinator Mr. Emmanuel Sadiq and Human Rights Defender Mr. Asad Tanveer.
