Addressing the lawyers at Lahore Bar Council on Wednesday morning Dr. Tahir ul Qadri said that secret agencies role should be confined to the matters relating to internal and external security of the country and these agencies should be stopped from meddling in the political affairs as such acts would not only create problems for the government but also generate political unrest and chaos in the country. Dr. Tahir ul Qadri said that they had supported the present government for its progressive agenda for transforming the country into a vibrant democracy and wherever they found weaknesses in their affairs they had openly criticised them and came up with alternate suggestions for rectifying the things. Dr. Tahir ul Qadri came down hard on present government for deviating from its accountability agenda rather they had made a mockery of the accountability process. He further said that if there was a sincerity of purpose on part of government the accountability of all the corrupt people could be accomplished in just 15 days. He said that whole nation asked Gen. Pervez Musharraf that what was the need of removing the government of Mian Nawaz Sharif when Government was inclined to continue with the same old corrupt system of governance through elections. He further charged the government was engaged in pre-polls rigging and government machinery including secret agencies operating at provincial and federal level were pressurising political leaders, elected Nazims and Niab Nazims to join the political party of government's choice. He further said that law and order situation was slipping out of the control of the present government and one could gauge the inefficiency of government well by the fact that a very senior government official had informed him that he would be the next target of the terrorists and advised him (Tahir ul Qadri) to better take steps for his security. Dr. Tahir ul Qadri said that the proposed constitutional reforms package of the government showed that present government was planning to stay for another 20 years but said that there was an invisible Force of God which could decide the real course for the people. He said that proposed constitutional amendment package clearly depicted the government's intentions of establishing a presidential autocracy in the country. He further said that instead of establishing autocracy in the cover of democracy Gen. Musharraf should have directly established dictatorship by suspending constitution and parliament. He further said that government was promoting political leaders who even not have self-confidence to handle the things independently and added that secret agencies in the country were promoting slavery instead of democracy and in a way laying foundation of another crisis. Responding to the lawyers questions Dr. Tahir ul Qadri said that government Afghan policy was correct as in case of saying 'no' to America the coalition of America, Israel and India could have treated Pakistan with Afghanistan. About the problems being faced by Pakistan at international level Dr. Tahir ul Qadri said that active diplomatic efforts and activating Islamic states could help avert the problems confronting the Muslim Ummah. To another question he declared the armed struggle of Palestinians as Jehad. To another question he said that they had supported President Gen. Pervez Musharraf in presidential referendum on the promise that he would strike a balance between the powers of President and Prime Minister but regretted that he had not fulfilled his promise and in proposed constitutional amendments he had drifted the balance of power in favour of President. To another question Dr. Tahir ul Qadri said Government should end the winning horses culture in national elections and organize elections on proportionate representation basis. He further demanded of the government to seize the funds of District and Tehsil Nazims from July to October so that these people could not influence forthcoming elections. To another question he said that delay in the elections would not be tolerated at any cost and asked the government to plug all the avenues of pre-polls rigging to ensure fair and transparent elections.
